Can you help make our Bevington Pipe Organ sing again?

Fundraising to restore the historic pipe organ at All Saints Parish Church, Wellington, Telford, has now reached its final stages. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our supporters, we have raised more than £248,000 towards our fundraising target of £299,700.

For almost 150 years, this remarkable instrument has played a central role in the worship, celebrations, commemorations and musical life of both the church and the wider community. Its restoration will ensure that it continues to inspire, enrich and serve future generations for many decades to come.

As the organ approaches its 150th anniversary in 2029, we are determined to complete this once-in-a-generation restoration project in time to celebrate this significant milestone with a fully restored instrument at the heart of our community. Once restored, the organ will continue to accompany regular worship while also being used for civic occasions, weddings, funerals, concerts, recitals and organ tuition.

The Grade II* listed organ at All Saints Church is an important part of our community’s heritage and a fine example of the craftsmanship of the renowned Victorian organ builders Bevington & Sons. Specialist advisers have confirmed that the instrument now requires a comprehensive restoration to recover its sound quality, reliability and long-term future. We want this ‘king of instruments’ to find its voice again.

Interest in the pipe organ is enjoying a national revival, particularly among younger people, thanks in part to musicians and educators such as concert organist Anna Lapwood, whose performances and social media presence have introduced the instrument to a new generation.
